GAMA is launching the Physician Pathways Committee to expand and strengthen opportunities for individuals to pursue careers in medicine. This initiative reflects our commitment to building a more diverse physician workforce to meet the healthcare needs of New Mexico. 

The committee will focus on raising awareness of existing pathway programs and making it easier for GAMA members to engage with them. It will also create mentorship opportunities, connecting members with pre-medical and medical students to offer guidance, support, and career advice. In addition, the committee will help deepen GAMA’s engagement with the La Tierra Sagrada Society by fostering stronger connections with scholarship recipients and supporting their success. The committee will also seek collaboration with other healthcare organizations to enhance its efforts across the state. 

Our first meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 14, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. via Zoom, co-chaired by Dr. Valerie Romero-Leggott and Dr. Lana Melendres. All GAMA members are invited to join. Whether your passion is mentorship, education, or workforce development, your participation is welcome.
